《華爾街日報》最新季度調查顯示，儘管近來數據顯示經濟有疲軟跡象，但受調經濟學家仍樂觀看好美國經濟軟著陸，主張經濟並非惡化，而是走向正常化。
約有2年時間，經濟學家一直低估美國經濟實力，成長率預測比實際情況還保守。但近來情況反轉，今年第一季美國經濟擴張幅度不如預期。
不過經濟學家大多認為，在歷經一段經濟急速成長及通膨過高時期後，經濟放緩無可避免，他們主張經濟正趨於正常化，而非惡化。
